Get Involved

We welcome suggestions from those who would like to propose and manage new kinds of events. Let us know what you would like to do.

Most of our programs are open to those who are not members of CFI Austin, but we encourage you to support our chapter and donate to CFI.

Volunteer Opportunities

CFI Austin currently has three committees that are always looking for volunteers.  If you are a people person, consider giving some of your time to our Membership Committee.  Got some great ideas or connections for a new program or event?  The Program Committee can always use a hand.  The Legislative Committee meets to stay abreast of all legislation that affects our rights as citizens, particularly the progressive freethinking kind.  Join one or all to help strengthen our goal: To promote and defend science, reason and the freedom of inquiry!

Membership Comittee

Meetings are held as needed. Members work to develop outreach, promotional opportunities and membership drives. Outreach includes tabling at events, fairs, etc. Promotional activities include distributing fliers and brochures at libraries and bookstores. The committee’s goal is to encourage all those who enjoy and appreciate what CFI brings to Austin to support us.

Non-Fiction Book Club

Stimulate your brain with this engaging book club – everyone is welcome. Held at Border’s at the Domain at 7:00 pm the first Tuesday of every month.

The non-fiction book club welcomes suggestions for future books. The group meets the 4th Tuesday of the month. Updates available at the CFI Austin Meetup page.

Austin Secular Families

Family get-togethers are scheduled (but not limited to) every 3rd Sunday of the month, at varying locations.

Check the Meetup page for latest information.

As a member of this online group, you are welcome and encouraged to ask questions, offer advice, and participate in discussions of secular parenting issues. You will also get notifications of upcoming activites for secular families in the Austin metropolitan area and throughout Texas.

Online Community

There are a couple of online communities that members of CFI Austin (and those interested in becoming members) might like to participate in:
