Born on February 12, 1809, Charles Darwin revolutionized the understanding of plant, animal, and human origins during his lifetime, and has had major, lasting impact on the field of biology ever since. Some 150 years after the release of his On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, Center for Inquiry-Austin gathers every February to celebrate Darwin’s birthday. Who better than Charles Darwin to exemplify the principles of scientific inquiry, for which CFI stands? He devoted his life to the search for truth—examining, gathering, and analyzing enormous amounts of data on his trips around the world, formulating hypotheses about his findings, and undertaking rigorous experimentation to test his hypotheses.

Darwin Day, sponsored by CFI-Austin, is a FREE event, with lectures on the cutting edge of biological research and understanding, interactive learning activities for children and teens, and continued education credits for teachers.

Thank you for making Darwin Day 2017 a huge success!

This was our largest Darwin Day to date, with over 500 attendees, 2 great lectures for adults, 6 presentations for children, 7 local organizations with exhibits from arthropods to the evolution of molecules, and development credit for teachers.

Of course we could not have done any of this without the hard work of over 20 hard working CFI-Austin volunteers.

We look forward to Darwin Day 2018. If you would like to help make next year bigger and better we need contributions to pull off such a big event.

Thank you, again! And we look forward to seeing you again next year.

The Daily Texan put together a video of the event, to the right.
