Chips & Chat

Chips & Chat

CFI-Austin explores the various Tex-Mex restaurants around Austin the first Monday of each month, at 7pm. The Chips and Chat venue changes monthly, varying between a north, central and south Tex-Mex establishment.

See what Tex-Mex restaurant we are visiting next to the right and join us for informal secular socializing and fried unleavened corn bread.

If you would like to suggest a restaurant for a future Chips and Chat, please feel free to contact us with your suggestion.

Drinking Rationally

Drinking Rationally

The second Monday of every month, CFI-Austin gathers at Mr. Tramps, 7pm, for drinking, conversation, dinner and the company of enlightened intellectuals (slash cretans).

Come join us to eat, drink, and solve the world's problems. There is limited parking available. It's okay to park in the Target parking lot, but make sure to read the signs for other businesses that don't want you to park in their space.

Discussion Group

Discussion Group

Held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm, CFI-Austin hosts a monthly group discussion where a wide range of topics are often tackled, more often strayed from, and all the worlds problems are almost always solved by 8:30pm.

Topics vary each month exploring current events and the tough questions of the day with a dedication to Free Inquiry.

Some of us go to El Arroyo Mexican restaurant, 7032 Wood Hollow Drive, at the east end of the complex, after the discussion for more discussion, libations and/or food.

Food for Thought

Food for Thought

On the third Monday each month, at 7pm, CFI-Austin hosts our monthly lecture and presentation series. Food for Thought provides a venue for enlightening and educating lectures, exploring the latest scientific research from professors at the University of Texas along with civic and political leaders from around the region.

After the lecture some of us go to Hyde Park Bar & Grill, 4206 Duval St., for food, libations, and further discussion.

Location: Trinity United Methodist Church, 4001 Speedway, enter side door on 40th St., then 1st door on right.
Non-Fiction Book Group

Non-Fiction Book Group

The fourth Tuesday of each month, at 7pm, CFI-Austin hosts a discussion about non-fiction titles of varying intellectual rigor. Sometimes pulled from the New York Times best sellers; sometimes looking back through books we have missed over the years.

See what book we are reading this month over to the right and join us for an interesting discussion.

Location: ACA Library, 1507 W. Koenig La, (south side of street). There are a few extra parking spaces behind the building. We meet in the room at the back of the building.
